About Scout

Scout is a dynamic interdisciplinary design and development practice specializing in adaptive reuse. Since 2015, we have been dedicated to revitalizing urban spaces, with our primary focus on transforming the historic Bok Building, a sprawling 340,000 sq. ft. Art Deco building in South Philadelphia, into a vibrant hub for artisans, entrepreneurs, and community groups.

In 2022, we expanded our work to Providence, RI, with 50 Sims, a 100,000+ sq. ft. project aimed at fostering community engagement and supporting local initiatives like the Steel Yard and Farm Fresh RI. This site serves as a permanent home for numerous artists, facilitating growth and long-term sustainability.

As of the Spring of 2025, Scout is in the process of redeveloping former University of the Arts buildings Hamilton and Furness Halls into the Village of Industry & Art. Located on the Avenue of the Arts in Philadelphia, Scout aims to carry the legacy of the historic buildings by providing space for artists and small businesses to work, thrive, and be in community together. Our mixed-use developments reshape urban landscapes, offering unique opportunities for those passionate about design, development, and community-building.

Position Summary

  • Track event inquiries and maintain internal event databases and records

  • Conduct post-event follow-ups to gather feedback and improve future programming

  • Maintain event supplies, storage, and inventory

Community Engagement (30%)

  • Coordinate events with community partners and tenants using subsidized or discounted event space for one off or recurring programming

  • Serve as a point of contact for tenants hosting events within their studios

  • Encourage collaboration and engagement among tenants, partners, and neighborhood organizations

  • Support building-wide community initiatives and public programming

Communications + Operations (20%)

  • Assist with event promotion and communications, including newsletters, social media, and event calendars

  • Share event updates with internal teams

  • Support training of day-of event staff and coordination with building operations and security

  • Facilitate post-event reviews and documentation to help improve event processes

Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience in event coordination, venue operations, arts administration, hospitality, or community programming

  • Strong organizational and communication skills

  • Requires endurance and energy for extended periods of standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 lbs
