Bok is an iconic 340,000 sq. ft. building in South Philadelphia which has been lovingly transformed over the past 6 years into a creative facility for artisans, entrepreneurs, and nonprofits. Today, the building is home to over 220 unique businesses and growing, featuring a diverse program of events including craft fairs, design conferences, social events, and community programming. The Design Intern role provides a unique opportunity for an ambitious and talented individual to contribute to this exciting project.

Scout is looking for a part-time Spring Design Intern with an appreciation for creative reuse, contextual development and historic preservation, and background in architecture, urban design, landscape architecture or a similar profession. This role will support the team in confirming existing conditions on site, measuring tenant spaces, and proposing and developing design additions with internal and external design collaborators. Although the majority of the focus will be within Bok, the Spring Design Intern will also be involved in other Scout projects including the PHS Flower Show.
We’re looking for critical thinkers, designers with purpose, and people who have an array of skill sets who can enthusiastically bring a new perspective to our dedicated team.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITY
Creating and updating measured drawings and floorplans
Creating test fits to help communicate spatial and programmatic layouts
Contributing to conceptual design work
Assisting in public engagement sessions by creating approachable, easily digestible visuals
Producing take-offs and simple estimating from measured drawings
Producing architectural renderings for marketing and leasing
General design-related administrative duties
Full-time enrollment in a Bachelor or Masters Degree program at an accredited college or university.
Educational background should be in one of the following fields: Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design or Historic Preservation
Working knowledge of at least one of the following tools: Rhino, Morpholio Trace, Vectorworks. At minimum, you will need to have an intermediate-level knowledge of AutoCAD, Sketchup, or Vectorworks.
Proficient in the core Adobe Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
Keen attention to detail is a must!
