Bok is a creative hub in South Philadelphia providing affordable workspace to artists, entrepreneurs, nonprofits and many other business types. Today the 340,000 square foot building is filled with over 200 businesses, makers, creatives, and community services and draws over 250,000 visitors annually for events, programming, and food offerings within the building. The scale of the building means there is the ability to accommodate a wide variety of users in spaces ranging from 200 square feet to 25,000 square feet. About the Internship

Are you a motivated and creative individual looking for an exciting opportunity to gain experience in Marketing and Event coordination? Scout, the urban design and development practice leading the redevelopment of the iconic Bok building in South Philadelphia, is seeking a talented Marketing and Events Intern to join our dedicated team.

​

This part-time fall internship will focus on engaging with our Bok tenant community and facilitate marketing efforts, including supporting our largest internal event, Open Studios. As a Marketing and Events Intern at Scout, you will have the unique opportunity to engage with the incredible Bok tenant community and support our marketing efforts. This internship offers valuable hands-on experience in a fast-paced, creative environment.

We’re looking for an engaged thinker with a diverse skill set, who will bring creativity and enthusiasm to our small and dedicated team. The ideal candidate is pursuing or holds an undergraduate degree in communications, PR, marketing, urban studies/urban planning, graphic design and/or business administration. Successful candidates will have a relevant background, applicable skills and enthusiasm for Scout’s work.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Bok events team in planning + implementing the Fall 2023 Open Studios, Bok's largest internal event (required to work the event on 10/13)

  • Liaise with Scout staff, interview tenants and gather assets to develop content for the winter edition of Bok’s printed quarterly newspaper

  • Gather and upload content for the monthly Bok email newsletters in Mailchimp

  • Support the development of marketing materials and signage for Bok as required

  • Spearhead the ideation and production of Bok promotional materials

  • Support the Bok Events team with promotion and channel and calendar management

  • Support in content ideation for the Bok Instagram, and create Instagram Reels videos on an as-needed basis (no more than 2 per month) to promote tenants and events

  • Archive Bok’s printed press features and organize files and develop a system for press tracking and archiving

  • Provide general administrative support across workstreams

Qualifications

  • A self-motivated and proactive individual who can work independently and manage time efficiently.

  • Strong attention to detail and a precise approach to work.

  • Comfortable with administrative tasks and able to maintain a high level of organization.

  • Excellent communication skills, particularly in writing and copyediting.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Graphic design and photography experience are highly desirable.

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Instagram, Microsoft Office, MailChimp, and Squarespace.

Compensation

Compensation for this role is a $1,000/month stipend. College internship documentation can be provided. Intern must commit to 20 hours a week, in-person.
