About Bok

Bok is a historic building that has evolved from its past use as a vocational high school to its current life as a space for a multidisciplinary base of tenants and a wide range of events. The full-square-block building is filled with makers, restaurants, artists, product showrooms, jewelers, videographers, architects, fashion designers, product designers, artists, charitable organizations, and a pre-school — among others — in the previously empty classrooms. Bok’s reactivation is driven by Scout, an interdisciplinary development and design practice, who owns and operates the building.

Position Summary

We are looking for a personable and motivated Ambassador to join our team in South Philadelphia.

Ambassadors support a range of day-to-day operations, administrative, and event needs. This role is an important extension of our development team, as they provide the first impression for tenants, guests, and visitors entering the building. Ambassadors provide a welcoming entry experience and assist with navigational questions, facilitate and organize deliveries, promote safety and inclusion, offer admin support for building-wide initiatives, and support event staff in venue management.

We are a small, entrepreneurial, energetic team and therefore looking for candidates who appreciate a fast-paced, start-up atmosphere and have the ability to remain professional and service oriented in a complex environment.

This is a part time position with consistent weekend availability required. Availability for Saturday + Sunday 9:00am – 5:00pm is required, with one additional event shift possibly scheduled per month and the ability to occasionally fill in for other Ambassadors during the week. Event shifts vary in day and time, so flexibility is important.

Essential Functions

  • Greet and engage with all tenants and visitors as they enter Bok and assist with navigation for first time guests as needed; manage the flow of foot traffic to ensure that visitors find their appropriate destination and/or stay within the publicly open areas of the building.

  • Frequently communicate with and address the needs of numerous Bok departments that may include Facilities, Operations, Bok Events, Weddings, Community Activities, Administration, and others.

  •  Be well versed in the redevelopment project at Bok, its tenants, and events to answer questions knowledgeably and accurately. We give free public tours each Wednesday, you will be required to lead at least one!

  • Triage common questions and requests — direct walk-ins to the appropriate online destination for leasing and event inquiries and general information as needed.

  • Provide administrative support by maintaining mailing lists, notifying tenants of aging deliveries, maintaining directory signage, managing public post boards, and other tasks as needed.

  • Provide event day-of support including assisting guests as they enter the building to find the correct venue location, ensure event guests stay within designated access areas, and maintaining building and safety procedures during events.

  • Facilitate deliveries by directing USPS, UPS, FedEx, Amazon and others to the mail room location and assist with their entry as needed; maintain the general organization of the package room.

  • Maintain proper building procedures for security and reporting incidents as they occur using appropriate channels.

  • Maintain entry way inventory of informational materials and ensure entry organization and cleanliness at all times.
