Millicent Fawcett

A pre-feasibility report exploring the reuse and reinvigoration of the undercroft garage space at Millicent Fawcett Court.

Millicent Fawcett Court is a residential estate in the Bruce Grove area of Tottenham.  The aim was to create much needed affordable work space in the area and a community a facility that enables, trains, and employs local residents in light manufacturing and design-based occupations.

This project aims to become a leading example of how under-utilised spaces can be transformed to meaningfully impact the surrounding community.

The report presents methods for engaging the local community in the development and 'making' process - how can residents benefit from the overhaul of the space? What are the critical physical interventions that must be made in order to ensure the long-term success of the project? What criteria is essential in order to attract both operators and tenants to the space? and crucially how does this work spatially on the estate? The report was submitted for  consideration by the GLA and Homes for Haringey.
